Picked up Mom's ashes. I have custody of both Mom and Dad's remains until spring wildflowers bloom. House Law: NO Haunting! I don't care if it is Day of the Dead, All Saints' Day, or Halloween. Visits during my dreams are welcome, but refraining from scaring the bejeebers out of me is non-negotiable. 🤨

Didn't have to leave the house today. Bliss! Home with my family, my favorite place in the world.

I just discovered that IMDB has an actor's entry for 'Skeleton', which bemuses me. Appropriate since Halloween nears. Skeleton has screen credits in Zardoz, House on Haunted Hill, Home Alone Two, The Neverending Story, and more:

Many here were kind enough to follow my posts about Mom. She passed on Sept. 5, shortly after admission to the best hospice in our city.

Mom was ready, beyond ready, to go. Her last days were comfortable, pain-free, and peaceful. In spring we'll scatter our parents' ashes, together, over fields of beautiful wildflowers, back to the earth and the great cycle of days to which we all belong.

Closing out a life takes a shocking amount of time & energy, but we're in a good headspace.

Picked up Mom's med refills and got her pills done for the week. A quiet day today together.

Hubby found a Japanese YouTube channel, DIY with Masa the Cat. It's exactly the low key fare I need right now, watching the guy customize his travel van under supervision of his kitty. It must be wonderful to know how to build useful things.

Sis took my advice to do some self care this afternoon, while I mom-sat. I managed to squeeze in some exercises/resistance band, at long last.

Changed out the second AC filter and cleaned the grate. I thought this would be the harder one, but it was the easier of the two, a nice surprise.

Picked up, inventoried, put away our monthly provisions. I feel secure having plenty of kitty litter on hand.

A good, quiet day with Mom.

My 78-ounce glass storage jars arrived safely, along with another 5-lb bag of coffee beans and replacement sandbags we may need for flooding.

Modern plumbing is wonderful, and we take it so much for granted--until something goes wrong. So today, we're thankful for:
♡ A competent plumber who arrives quickly, works swiftly, and flexes to meet homeowner needs.
◇ Having resources to pay said plumber without going into debt.
♤ Marveling at new, modern plumbing fixtures that replace crusty, grody, eroded old fixtures.
♧ Being showered, shaved, and shampooed after too many days of no shower/tub water.
Water=1st world privilege.

The 911 emergency with Mom was because she accidentally pressed her Lifeline button, not an actual medical emergency. Thank heaven!

Yiddish is so cool and fun. My wandering mind pondered my favorite Yiddish words on my drive home: futz, mensch, and shmeckel. That last one makes me giggle. I have a mental image of 2 old geezers having an argument wherein "shmeckel" makes an appearance. No idea where that comes from.

I get to sleep late and maybe wash my hair tomorrow. 🌞

Started a new crochet blanket project. Not that we really need more crochet blankets, but crochet is a soothing, grounding activity.

My new sandals arrived today, and Hubby wore his new collared shirt to his doctor visit today. For however long it lasts, I'm grateful we can afford things like new shoes, shirts, and underwear. One appreciates this after years of wearing things till they fall apart.

Getting more of my TCB tasks done. These seem to multiply when I'm not looking. 😆

Set up her phone account to allow Mom's most critical phone numbers' calls through, route all others to voice mail. Sis and I are handling her business and medical needs, so those calls come to us. We'll have to check the voice mail more frequently, but it will be worth it to keep her from being harassed, scammed, or defrauded.

Resolved a financial worry by checking the facts on the relevant website, once I got home. Whew!

Getting chill time to hang out with my little family.

Bella's fever broke and despite some digestive upsets, she's doing better today. My first time to take a kitty's temperature. The thermometer is now labeled "Bella's butt thermometer" and is for her sole use in future. 😆

Feel strong because today I handled Mom care (2 crosstown trips), kitty care, resolved a bank issue, and gassed up the truck. I did all the things! I am so tired...

Buh-bye, Ms. Bondi! Don't let the door hit ya where the Lord split ya, as we say hereabouts. 🤭

Thankful today for our fantastic vets, who got us in ASAP with our sick kitty; did the labs; and gave Bella antibiotics, hydration, appetite stimulant, cans of high quality cat food, and even a sample dose of flea and tick medicine. She has a UTI, but she's started eating again, and we are setting expectations that she's going to get better. She'll be mad when we take her temperature tomorrow, but we'll all get through it together.

Got confirmation today that a long-term goal I've been working toward since last July has been achieved at last. This is a great feeling. Adulting has rewards, woohoo!

Mom's new doctor has already phoned in all her med refills to her pharmacy, for when they're next due. I am in my happy place for sure. 🌞

Ate a very tasty orange and froze the peels. When I have enough peels, I'll dry them in the oven, grind them to powder, and flavor baked goods w/ the powder. Great w/ chocolate!

We got Mom to her appointment with the new doctor, and he is a treasure, everything we need and hoped for, for Mom. Been trying to get her to a better doctor for the last several years, since before her stroke, so this is a tremendous relief. She got a jury summons today, weirdly, and he wrote her an excuse Rx: "Excused for life." 🤣

Watching the American version of The Office lately. Fun times from better days.
