Note to voters in Alberta, over 100 polls have had their hours extended due to delays opening in the morning. If you think you might be late check the list.
This will delay results as well. One poll is going to be open until 10pm

If you live in Alberta and sent in a mail in ballot:
CHECK TO SEE IF IT’S BEEN RECEIVED!
Edit: An election official on CBC this morning indicated that what you’re looking for is “Received and your ballot has been cast”
If it has not you need to vote today!

I sent this to my father (a hardcore birder) and his response was suitably concise.

So the UCP is removing protections for an animal with a population of less than 100 individuals.

The degree to which people assume their communications with these products are private is disturbing.
We may not have got the best plumbers out there to put in our new tub. 😬
I was sitting with my adult kids waiting for the Battlestar Galactica panel to start and we were discussing Project Hail Mary, Eridian biology, and the melting point of mercury when one of them looked at me and said, "This is why you had kids isn't it?"
I like waking up to the news of the UCP losing.
One of the biggest stories in Alberta this week is the Saddle Lake Cree Nation asserting it's sovereignty and basic humanity by defying the Alberta government bans on gender affirming care.
For today's staff meeting our indigenous land acknowledgment is a story reading. I do like my workplace's policy of making these more than just the same canned statement every week.
Thanks to @britt for printing me a box organizer for my copy of Cascadia. Some games just don't come with good box organization so I found a good pattern online and contracted Britt to print it for me. She did an excellent job and the price was reasonable.
<sigh> CBC giving Gander basically a free ad when discussing alternatives to Facebook... no mention of Fedi at all.
Grateful for my dental benefits. I have two crowns that are 25 years old that have started to chip. In a couple weeks I get to spend three hours in the chair while my dentist removes them, preps for new crowns, and puts in temps. A couple weeks after that I get the new crowns and I shouldn't have to think about them again my life.
Dental care should be a part of our healthcare. People shouldn't need a gold plated benefits plan to maintain their teeth.
This is not a good week. :(
...is that two ships are apparently very close (around 30k km) but then it's stated that it would take two days for a ship to reach the Enterprise. I guess the later is OK because it was a dream although odd that Spock missed it.
Oh, and another complaint was it needed some Statler and Waldorf at the end to be perfect.
Fred Penner running long and delaying the main stage because you’d have a kid riot if he didn’t finish The Cat Came Back.
They also “wrote” a short little song with Air Canada’s own words in response to Air Canada breaking the head off their left handed resonator guitar. They had to borrow one for their Canadian dates. It’s very consistent at festivals hearing about Air Canada breaking instruments.
My folk fest find this year is Dug! A strange duo of a Scot and an American who live in Dublin. They great droll banter and during their side stage concert ended it with a folk metal mosh pit.
