You know, the Fediverse reminds me of the local oval in my childhood neighbourhood.
Every day after school, I'd get home, raid the fridge and bolt out the door to the oval. I had no idea who would be there but other kids would always pop in and we'd kick the ball around or organise a game. Then, darkness would fall and we'd all disappear.
We never called each other or planned anything but we connected when our paths crossed. I really like being back in that world.

Advice for female-presenting persons: if a male doctor asks if you've been under stress lately: SAY NO. Tell him life is great. Don't budge. Make the fucker actually figure out what's wrong.
I don't know a single woman who hasn't gotten the stress brush-off, only to get a real diagnosis later.
It's bullshit. Sometimes lying to your doctor is the right thing to do.
Made it to Pagosa Springs, CO without issue. We hit a washout that was manned and safe enough for the CRV (AWD). We made it in the only open road into town. The river should crest tonight around 15 feet, it’s crazy. I will make a separate picture post.
The Resort has had to close a few pools but most are open. We took a dip in a few already.
Natural disaster aside, really pretty up here.
We are here till Sunday before we hit Zion and Brice.
Good distraction from the world and politics.

Dutch military intelligence flipped a Russian GRU hacker in 2017 and used him to reach a Russian server holding screenshots from Jared Kushner's iPhone.
By early 2018, according to Cole, the Dutch had cracked the device themselves and could watch Kushner's screen in real time.
What they saw was *Kushner logging into a UAE bank account stocked with hundreds of millions of dollars routed through a bank in Azerbaijan.*
The Saudi and Emirati royals ultimately put at least $2 billion into accounts tied to Kushner, including roughly $750 million at First Abu Dhabi Bank, where Kushner was a signatory on an account owned by an Emirati charity, and about $1 billion in Israel's Central Bank.

We absolutely need to choose to use tech to improve the work we do, not to replace people with lower quality work and higher profits. But, that is the capitalist way.
The right-wing owners of Scientific American, once the pillar of science writing, have ruined the publication's content and reputation. An incredibly sad situation: https://www.thenation.com/article/society/scientific-american-springer-nature-trump/
The Trump admin scared Springer into destroying Scientific American. SciAm had reported on Trump's massive cuts to science. The Trump admin responded by forcing federal agencies to unsubscribe from all Springer scientific journals and products. Springer apparently depends heavily on that funding and was in the process of eliminating "opinion" reporting from SciAm, when SciAm published an article on the scientific evidence for the decline of U.S. democracy. Springer panicked and sold the magazine to LabX, which apparently has a history of sensational publication. After all the layoffs, they are down to something 20 people (the exact number was unclear to me), and the remaining staff doesn't understand the magazine's newly intended direction. https://www.thenation.com/article/society/scientific-american-springer-nature-trump/

I hate Reflect Orbital so very very much. They are trying to provide expensive, dangerous "help" for problems that already have better, cheaper, less destructive processes in place.
The one thing this article fails to mention is not only could the light from orbit go out at any second, it would be constantly moving, making all the shadows slowly swing around the light source's motion. I've never done any search and rescue, but this seems extremely unhelpful.
