Do I know anyone who can recommend some accessible invintory software? Asking for a screen reader-using friend who wants to get more independence in place running a small business. It could be Windows or web-based. Free would be great, open source would be awesome, neither of those things are set in stone though. Please boost for reach if you might know someone who can share firsthand experience. Cheers!
Question for peeps who use OSARA working with MIDI. Do you prefer REAPER's default timebase in the MIDI editor (EG "bar 8 beat 3 25%") or do you have MIDI thoughts/feedback in MBT ("bar 8 beat 3 240 ticks")? Asking because I started a thing, but can only see a way for it to be accurate in one of those timebases.
Production and guitar player peoples, can you lend me your ears for 3 seconds and your wisdom for a lil' bit longer? I'm recording a cover version and want to emulate something reasonably close to the FX in this short example. Sounds like a ring mod to me, do you agree?
I can't get my ring mod to sound as separate width-wise or as woozy as this, and if it's not a job for a ring modulator I don't know what else I should be trying. It's annoying the shit out of me. Send help.
PS, I also kinda hate stages.
So anyway that's why I haven't been on a stage in 7 years. Not that you asked.
For a while, I thought maybe the solution is a group doing sketches. That would be potentially simple logistics and I could feel like I was part of something with people.
Trouble is, I suspect the people that feel like my people kinda hate groups doing sketches. I know I do.
Back when I was playing in bands, I kinda hated gigs because of the logistics but loved spending time with the people.
Back when I left all the bands and did a stint doing stand up, I kinda loved how simple the logistics could be made to be but missed being part of something with people that felt like my people.
So, now what?
New day. Hello world. Time for me to read all about the new software you've been working on.
Or if we're being accurate, "waiting for".
For sale or swap: one weathered giveashitometer. Last seen working in 2019. Definitely needs fresh battery, other maintenance might be required. Could be a project for someone.
The blind Vibe Coder Blues:
Buh duh -dah-duh-dow...
"Woke up this mornin'"
Buh duh -dah-duh-dow...
"Rate limit reset,"
Buh duh -dah-duh-dow...
"Now all of 2 people, wanna know which voice they're gonna get"
Q&A about REAPER/OSARA/accessible production is happening later today, 3PM Eastern, 8PM UK. If you want feedback on any work in progress or a production you've finished recently, send it in and we'll give you some things to consider. There's also a place where you can send us a question in advance, we usually answer those at the beginning of the stream.
OK then peeps, seeing as nobody asked for yet another retro voice NVDA add-on, I decided to spend the last couple of hours... not making one.
You're welcome.
*yawns loudly*
Do yourself a favour, go get the new OSARA snapshot where Jamie made the parameters dialog about a thousand times better. It's even better on Mac. Imagine that.
If I was to take a drink every time a question that makes me want to drink came in here...
I'd be much better hydrated. Must try that.
Today I taught Google Docs to a new screen reader user.
Someone at Google owes me and that student a fucking apology.
Got some sand and a box no longer being used if anyone needs those...
My buddy Rachel put a new album out recently. Kinda jazzy/fusiony/proggy tunes. She's playing most of the things and self-producing/mixing. Essentially uses the computer like a tape recorder, mixes about as much as you would with a basic hardware board and that's that. It's astounding to me that one person can do all this without any of the mischief I rely on every time I open the DAW.
Give your earsies a puff of this and pass it along.
I follow a post that got boosted by someone who relies on accessibility, which lands on an accessible website, where every product is accessible.
Every page I visit highlights how accessibility is front and centre, how every product is designed by someone who uses accessibility all day every day, how nobody else is doing accessibility like this, how other accessibility efforts in this space fall short.
Then I go to the page containing their accessibility statement, which is... *drum roll*... out of date.
Out of date and inaccurate, at odds with everything else I've spent 15 minutes reading. Just like on any other site I could throw a stone at.
I laugh, and I leave.
Hey OSARA Mac/VO users, I'm looking for some info about REAPER's Preferences screen. How do you find navigating the categories table thingy? Does it work well or is there anything that trips you up on the regular? Are there any quirks I might not know about as someone who's only a part-time Mac mucker-upper? I'm gauging how that navigation feels ahead of possibly putting the same control type in an OSARA dialog. Help with reach appreciated.
Please drop me a DM if you use NVDA and REAPER, you don't have any Native Instruments hardware and you'd like to help me open up access to way more instruments without being strongarmed into buying hardware. Think I've figured out something cool. I need a machine that hasn't ever had a Native Instruments controller connected to verify whether my prototype works.
