A Leasey update is available. Leasey File Manager.
When applying sorting criteria on a specific folder, the settings are retained for next time it is accessed.

Cutting items from one folder to another should now be working again.

It is hoped this is the final update before the introduction of support for JAWS 2027.

The Ultimate Guide to StationPlaylist is published today. A complete Table of Contents is available on this page. The book includes an Appendix containing upcoming changes in StationPlaylist 6.21, scheduled for release later this year.
Anyone who has pre-ordered the book will receive it today.

There is a lot to look forward to within Leasey over the next few weeks.
1. Leasey Word has received a lot of attention.
A. High quality voice dictation. Dictate documents, letters, anything you wish into Leasey Word. If necessary, JAWS can echo the text back as you do so.
Not only can you dictate into the application and receive an exceptionally high level of voice recognition, but you can use some voice commands to. Examples would be:

"Leasey Text" followed by its name, so as to recreate a text passage previously stored.
"Leasey Clip 1 through to 12", to reproduce one of the 12 Leasey Clips.
"Leasey Insert before and Insert after", to place the cursor where you need it to be.
"Leasey Select", followed by text you wish to select.
A small number of commands to reproduce Markdown signs are also included for convenience.
B. Read Only Mode. This was a customer requested feature.
Press a keystroke to bring an extremely lengthy document into Read Only mode for faster navigation. Bookmarks and document notes are still available.
C. Automatic numbering in text including Markdown.
When creating numbered lists, pressing Enter can cause Leasey to insert the next numbered item for you automatically.
D. Highlighting Text.
If a lecturer, tutor, student or colleague has marked important passages in a Word document for example, you can easily find such passages through a list or using quick navigation keys. You can also highlight text yourself so that passages can be visually identified. As you navigate the document, JAWS speaks the presence of visually highlighted text.
2. Leasey Media Centre.
You can automatically create chapter marks in audio files stored on the computer, not just podcasts. Ideal if you have a large MP3 file requiring section divisions. Leasey can analyse the file and create the chapter marks for you.
3. ChatGPT.
The highly accessible ChatGPT interface has been completely re-designed.
A. JAWS no longer uses the results viewer to display the text. We have our own interface to render it, including headings, tables, etc.
B. You do not have to dismiss the viewer when you start the next interaction. You can continue to see all of the conversation as it evolves. If you do want to see just one element of it, find it from the new list box, press Enter, and there it is.
C. The conversation can easily be exported to a text file or Word document.
D. You can quickly read the most recent 10 messages with keystrokes, similar to how we work with WhatsApp.
E. We are now using ChatGPT6. All the previous functions still exist, such as our library of pre-prepared prompts in ChatGPT Tools and the ability to save and load conversations.

Those are just some of the new features to come. Enjoy! #LeaseyLove

Did you know? A small number of features in the upcoming #PresentAble application rely upon AI. An API key is required from Open AI.

The documentation does explain at length how to obtain an API key. We do not expect you to know how to obtain one.
However, if you are already using ChatGPT with Leasey, you need do nothing further. An API key already stored in Leasey automatically carries over to PresentAble.

To be clear, PresentAble is a standalone application. Leasey is not required to use it. But if you do have Leasey, you have a small advantage there, particularly if Hartgen Consultancy has already donated to you a ChatGPT API key.

The Ultimate Guide to StationPlaylist publication date is 5 October 2026. We are just waiting to include changes of the upcoming release of the StationPlaylist products in the book. With any luck those details will be available by then, but that will be the publication date as there are other major projects which need to be completed before Christmas.

An update to the Zoom scripts is available.
1. Upon further updates, user preference settings should no longer be disrupted.
2. On some machines, when sharing screens the scripts were not active. Even the JAWS default Zoom scripts are not active in such situations. This should be corrected.

Leasey did you know? If you do not know how to use a Leasey feature, use Quick Steps.
Press the Leasey key then Q and ask questions like this.
I am listening to a podcast and it has no Chapter Marks so it is difficult to navigate between sections. How can I get Leasey to create chapter marks?

Answer.
Step 1. Start playing a podcast episode.

Step 2. Pause the audio by pressing Space on the Play/Pause Button in focus.

Step 3. Press Control+Shift+L. Leasey will offer to create suggested chapters if no chapters exist. Press Enter or Space on the "Yes" Button which is in
focus.

Step 4. Leasey will analyze the transcript and bring back suggested chapters. If you have already done this once, the results will immediately be displayed.

Step 5. Press the Tab key to reach the "Make Permanent" Button and press Enter or Space if you want Leasey to write the suggested chapters into the MP3
file metadata. After this, they will be permanent Leasey chapters and can be edited or removed.

You can use the Up and Down Arrow keys to review the suggested chapters, and press Enter on a chapter to move directly to that position in the audio. If
you do not make the chapters permanent, you can still navigate using the temporary suggested chapters while the episode is loaded.

The book entitled the Ultimate Guide to StationPlaylist and JAWS for Windows is progressing nicely to the point where the Table of Contents can be shared.
As can be seen, this is an enormous project which has taken several months to prepare. It is very much hoped this will be available in late September or very early October.
This has been an ambitious project. To this point, a full text reference of every function of the StationPlaylist products for use by blind people has not existed.

The book can be pre-ordered from here or you can read the full promotional information.

The Muze has been updated.
When viewing results from the Ultimate Music Database Chart in the JAWS Results Viewer, pressing Escape now returns to the date selector.

A major update to the Muze is available.

The Muze contains a huge range of music-based services for serious researchers or anyone presenting programmes for radio.

Introduced a database of recordings from American and Canadian charts.
Canadian and American Charts lets you explore historical chart information for songs and artists, find recordings credited to a particular composer, and build lists for a year or a selected period. It is useful for preparing music programmes, researching an artist’s chart history, and comparing a recording’s success in Canada and America.

The information comes from a music database compiled in June 1999. It contains more than 60,000 recordings across 43 chart series, including Canadian RPM and The Record charts, American Billboard charts, and Radio and Records charts. The earliest American chart information begins in January 1955, and Canadian coverage begins in June 1964. Coverage varies between charts and ends in 1999; some series cover only a few years.

The archive provides dates and statistics for a recording’s chart run, together with stored chart appearances that can be used to calculate rankings across selected months.
Because a great deal can be achieved with this database, there is an extremely comprehensive documentation section for the feature available.
