Is it just me or are things looking a little 1848 lately?

It's embarrassing how many people keep linking ‘Factually’: It's slop, it's obviously slop, the *first* thing any page from this ‘fact checking service‘ tells you is that you shouldn't beleive it even whilst it's tag-line is ‘Factually is an AI-powered research tool that helps people find reliable answers’.

There is simply zero value there. Do not link it.

Bonus: Over on it's FAQ it tells us it's reliant on Brave Search, as in the homophobic-cryptobro search. 🤦‍♀️

Somehow 2026 has brought us to the point that ‘did the Leader of the Conservative and Unionist Party just endorse Count Binface for MP’ is an actual serious question with a somewhat unclear answer.

What a wild moment to announce you are working with war criminals, very #Mozilla though.

Oh cool, so Linux doesn't have a font stack anymore?

Isn't that just grand.

Tests now longer than the implementation, but also the implementation actually behaves right

Y'know this whole test-driven thing might have a point or two maybe.

(brought to you by: having to rationally think trough testing the thing immediately finding issues)

I'm so bored of all this ‘big tent’ talk tbh

Okay so now they are moving past ‘protect the children’ how long do we think it'll be before trans content is defined as ‘self-harm’ and criminalised for all ages?

I mean idk, Human Rights just seem neat.

🤷‍♀️

- writes complex async C code
- runs first time
- runs first time?
- *questions everything*

‘gender is a scam to sell more toilets’ is government policy now.

Ah yes, it's that time again, waiting for debuginfod to download all of LLVM because *technically* it's part of my process…

I probably spend more time hitting the up arrow than if I just typed out

git rebase --continue

Tax is good, Actually

I mean seriously, even under X11 it's client drawn, just might not be the *same* client

macOS is client drawn, Windows is client drawn, Wayland is client drawn

Pre System 5 classic Mac OS even had the whole desktop client drawn, hence things like MacPaint were possible

The main difference is that macOS and Windows both have a default linked base library that includes default controls, whereas elsewhere we get to pick if we want gtk or qt as a base layer

The ‘always has been’ meme but it's CSD

Slightly delayed upload, but #KGX 45 has ventured out into the world

Lots of localisation has happened since the beta, including a whole new language — much thanks to translation teams

Egh, once again I find myself wanting a visibility setting between ‘followers’ and ‘mentioned-only’.

Yes, I could do follow requests, but actually, even if I did I'd want to accept most of my followers anyway.

Essentially I'm looking for a ‘mentioned-only++’ that implicitly includes a curated subset of followers, without having to notify them, which avoids the icky-ness of mentioned-only==dm but still with a more intimate audience.

Until then, I guess I'll continue over using mentioned-only.
