So, if I'm successful at making my scripting language, chatbot and the (limited) natural language parsing, it might actually prove that for programming... programmers don't really need that much AI.

I mean, vibe coders surely USE A LOT of LLMs, but that's basically just stolen code.

For actual software engineers, the AI is practically just a bunch of macros (and a debugging tool) wrapped in a convenient harness.

Will keep reporting.

Today I had a really interesting conversation with DeepSeek Harness.

Basically I asked the AI how much of the AI really is LLMs, and how much is actually software.

It turns out... A WHOLE LOT of it is just software. Guards, calling tools, forking agents, evaluating commands, ...

This is why AI Harnesses are just as discussed as LLM models in related forums.

So it turns out that the "code-only" AI I'm building is... just a harness.

🛸 "Wait... why is today the first time I am hearing of Mastodon?!" 🤔🪐
My tiny alien brain is officially short-circuiting! I’ve been broadcasting my art and videos out into the cold, algorithmic corporate void of the internet for YEARS just to get crushed by the algorithm... Only to find out there’s a whole cozy, ad-free, human-driven universe over here in the Fediverse?! 💫

WHAAA?!!!
I am confused but highly enthusiastic. :3
If you are new here like me, or just want to adopt a friendly spacey artist into your feed, let’s connect!

🎨 Art is my full-time job, but I also drop daily video shorts, stream gaming shenanigans, and write cozy sci-fi lore!

Please give this a Boost to help a new space-traveling indie creator find her community! 🔄💖

The #AIBubble will pop; all bubbles do. There will be something small to salvage. Meanwhile there’ll be damage.

The Reverse Centaur's Guide to Life after AI : How to Think About Artificial Intelligence Before it's Too Late
by Cory @pluralistic Doctorow

Doctorow's new book is insightful, concise, clear and accessible to the average reader. This is my favourite AI read this year. If you have energy for just one book on AI, then I recommend this one. Borrowed from and in demand at #LibrariesACT.

So, is this it? I've been waiting for this for so long that I can barely believe it.

Are we *actually* seeing the AI bubble crash?

#AI #AIBubble

Very funny seeing AI fuck up the big companies. What's wrong? Did the technology that famously makes the Internet worse hurt your main profit source, 'the Internet'?

Heads up, there's an impersonator adding people on Discord. Note the sneaky period at the end of the username. Don't fall for this VirtuallySham!

If it uses software to check for those bugs, well, that'd be one thing, I can perfectly understand tree traversal, the traveling salesman and those hard-NP problems we read about in college, but as it is right now? I really don't know if it does.

If it's just an LLM inferring answers from its memory matrices... and it STILL finds those bugs... hell, how am I ever going to compete with that? 😟

As I try furiously to compete with AI - both in code and in person, I'm realizing Claude is way much more capable than I at navigating and debugging unknown code.

It inspects every nook and cranny of the codebase, finding configuration bugs, weird edge cases, etc.

How the hell does it do that?

I still think it's unethical to depend on giant data centers to do this. But... How??? It's a really capable tool, and I feel... threatened by it.

Also, I need to add aliases and context memory.

Like, "function testThatWhateverDoesntCrash()" has a temporary alias such as "the test for this thing" that the user mentioned two prompts ago. So prompts need to have implementation-specific context memory.

If the memory is lost, I can ask for clarification. "Sorry, I forgot. When you said "the first test", which function are you referring to?"

I want to see how far I can get making the user think my AI is an LLM. 😁

Let's say a user wants to generate a series of English names, both male and female.

All I need to do is create a SQLite table with common names, genders and popularity.

Then I could expand this to other domains of knowledge, like business use cases.

Then, common algorithms like sorting and searching - for Java that's easy, it's just a few imports and calls 😅

What really tickles my curiosity is modifying tests, like "verify that this test checks that (CASE). How? 🤔

So... Still on the design stage for my thingy. Tokenizer for my language is still incomplete, requirements parser at 0%, and I'm already wondering what I'd do about case generation for unit tests.

I want my AI to be able to vibe-code itself (bootstrapping). And I got an idea!

I need to add a database of knowledge, eg, token expressions, and then other domains.

I think I'm turning this into an actual Expert System 😁
