Just watched an old Xfiles episode that apparently @GreatDismal wrote! 🤯 (S7 E13- First Person Shooter)

Stolen and added alt text.

Apparently this has a name! It's a form of monochrome rainbow:

Giant pink rainbow earlier this evening near Westwood, MA. This thing took up at least 120° of my view. The photo doesn't even come close to conveying the scale. It's compressed in this wide angle shot, but I needed it to capture the whole thing!

I know clothing sizes are the usual gripe, but duct, hose & pipe diameters are a damn mess!

Remember all the people whose birthday it is today and be happy for them. 🎂

Did I build a fan into a big enclosure without thoroughly testing it first? Yes. But did I put a service panel on the enclosure so I could check it if there was a problem? Nope. So here I go. Makin' holes.

I am rewatching Max Headroom and 1) it holds up pretty well except for the casual sexism and blurry video, and 2) they got almost everything right except it's streaming & socials instead of TV. Like pretty much everything is dead on.

for what it's worth, Avast and TunnelBear both have decent VPN services that have served me well, and to the best of my knowledge, neither has recently been accused of funding or openly supporting fascists.

Insect ID help request !

Might be an ant? Wasp?

We had maybe 2 doz of these, mostly dead or almost dead, appear in the shop overnight. Mostly clumped together in two groups.

The bodies are about 1cm long. Maybe 1.3-1.5 cm with the wings.

#DadShirt since today it seems appropriate.

SO. It appears that our apple tree was NOT hit by lightning, but was instead shattered by the shockwave from the meteor that exploded here earlier this afternoon... 🤯

I need some #FediMemory:

There was a quotation, a list, of things every person should do in their lifetime, that included "change a tire," and I think wield a sword maybe? and a bunch of mostly mundane but not everyday things. I think it was a sci-fi writer, but I don't exactly recall.

All I can find now by searching is click-bait-y bucket lists and spammy how-to aggregations.

Does anyone remember this list?

It's me. I'm the Multifunctional Stud.

Zulip chat platform is moving to the Zulip Foundation, whose board includes @hazelweakly @gregprice and others.

I am really growing to like the Zulip platform as a safe, small, open-source alternative to Slack, Discord, etc. I hope this is a good move for them!

#oggCamp #EMFcamp

Would Fedi folks be interested in an OggCamp or EMF Camp style event in the Boston area? Even if it's a small, fledgling one to start?

NOTE: Thinking of Boston, MA, US here. For me. Because it's closer. 🤓😉 But if I could get to the UK easily/cheaply, I'd go to the originals!
