If the opinions of the users don't matter... then who the fuck is the software even for?

Thinking that FOSS projects shouldn't disregard all the ethical issues with LLM use in projects is apparently "brigading."

Also only people who are "known" seem to matter.

Very unserious.

I have been into various kink-related things for longer than most of these kids have been alive. This is not an exaggeration. Kink is actually how I found my place in the furry fandom because some of the friendliest and most caring people I knew on kink-related forums and IRC networks were (SURPRISE!) furries. They were sweet, kind, caring, very fucking weird, but just great people who were never judgmental.

Hearing about very young furries trying to start shit on Twitter/X and TikTok against kinks like ageplay/ABDL is exhausting. To quote Master Shake: "I am thirty or forty years old, and I do not need this."

But I can't help but talk about it for a moment anyway because I just want to get out here and make people aware of why this is a bigger deal than it appears right now at this exact period in time thanks to the shitstorm of a political landscape.

I don't have to tell anyone that Google sucks. We already knew this.

if you just recently created a website with TLS certs from an official CA and you immediately find slop bots crawling it in your web logs... it's probably because of certificate transparency logs.

you bet your ass they're constantly watching and parsing those logs to find new sites to steal data from so they can sell it back to you later.

I'm Shammers.

I'm a #furry (since 2006), gay/ace/whatever, leftist dork who's very weird and not hiding it.

My interests include audio (in general), synths, solving weird problems, programming, 3D printing, CAD (#FreeCAD specifically), hating on big tech, self-hosting, and #locksport.

In a past life, I did a lot of DJing (house, trance, techno, etc. at clubs, cons, and streams), but things have gotten far too busy for that these days. One day I might continue it again.

#introduction

It's been a while since my first introduction post back in 2022, so I'm gonna make a new one and pin it

what if projection mapping rainbow colors onto crosswalks at night to make it very visible when it otherwise wouldn't have been?

if you scritch a dog's ear at the same time as you scritch their chin, they take a screenshot

I still set my headphones to environmental listening mode when the cat comes around. never know if she might say something super important

Even when you follow the rules exact, you're still likely to get fucked five ways to Sunday: https://www.nzz.ch/english/you-have-no-right-to-be-here-a-swiss-womans-harrowing-tale-of-arrest-and-detention-at-the-us-border-ld.1889535

If you come to the US for any reason (even as a fucking US citizen), you're at risk. Don't think it'll be smooth sailing just because you check a few boxes for the bigots at CBP.

I have British friends who want to come to America for fur cons and they're insisting that they don't have anything to worry about because "well that person made a mistake" or "because CBP is racist and I'm white so it'll probably be fine."

My brother in christ, this is an American citizen. A gay one at that. You aren't even an American citizen and you want to visit for largely-queer events.

What makes you think you'll be okay?

me: "Oh yeah, you know I'm always prepared"

*pulls this out of wallet*

I was thinking an alternative would have been to list ten characters from films, books, shows, etc., but I committed to just making my "no" longer instead

"Tell us why you're deleting your account."

Me: "no."

"It needs to be at least ten characters."

Me: "noooooooo."

@stux I'm not sure if it's just me, but it seems like the Explore tab on .coffee has been "stuck" for the past 3 days or so on both the web interface and in my Tusky client.

Any ideas what's going on? Can share a screenshot if that'd be helpful.

With Google fucking over extensions like uBlock Origin, the best time to switch away from Chromium-based browsers was yesterday. The next best time is today. If you really have to, tomorrow is also an option.

Sure there's uBlock Origin Lite, but there's a reason it's called "Lite."

Some people: "But I don't even use ad blockers!"

Oh... my sweet summer child... what the fuck are you doing on the web? Your life must be insufferable.

If you're in a country that's currently censoring Signal, I've started a Signal proxy. Reply to this toot unlisted and I'll be happy to share. I will also do private mentions.

I also do accept DMs/"Private mentions," but I acknowledge that they are far less private than they let on. That's true of most platforms even, but something to be aware of if you weren't already
