Just a bit of an experiment, to see if switching hobby/career works.
Ever monetizing my hobbies etc etc.

I started full time work (technically for he first time ever) two weeks ago.
In parks and gardens maintenance for council spaces.
Bit bloody different to constantly working on the cutting edge of tech.
...
The only cutting edge I deal with, is cutting hedges off foot paths HoHoHoHo

A cubic metre is literally so much. And if you get a cubic metre of soil or gravel or anything dumped in your driveway, you want a WIDE spade to move that shit around.

I just checked my super, and it was not stolen in a cybercrime way, just stolen in a Trump way.. I have way less super than the average person my age, and I'm still angry at how much is gone.
glare crappy compulsory stock market investment "savings" grumble grumble

It is certainly a weird dynamic.. that the USD is going further than usual in other countries.
I wish you all a very happy "The USD goes slightly further than before because their president is tanking the global economy" day.

UMM THANK YOU!!

USA Comrades:
It's a really good time for Australians to be paid in USD, because our dollar has hit a real low at 59c. Unfortunately I have absolutely no time to take on extra work. BUT, it's a weirdly cheap time RIGHT NOW for you to buy online goods from Australians. So please give me a little extra money, by buying my work on Bandcamp. Top it up a little, maybe! tyvm.

Feel free to wait until Bandcamp Friday too ;) xx

Pretend you're here in Australia, with my OST to Wayward Strand! https://maizewallin.bandcamp.com/album/wayward-strand-original-soundtrack

Something a little grittier, my OST to Receiver 2!

I do want a #tangara very much.
But the site doesn't list .wav as one of its supported file types!
Is that something that'll change soon?

Aaalso, it makes us look good to the 🍃Gardens🍃if you ✨register ✨ But yes, you can absolutely rock up whenever/however you want 🛩

Hello everyone. I started a new studio called Weird Flex.

The campaign will be launching actions that work towards ending Elbit Systems of Australia contracts. Under the guise of ‘creating Victorian jobs,’ it has partnered with Victorian-based universities, researchers, and defence companies, such as Accenture and Heat Treatment Australia (HTA).

Despite Elbit Systems allegedly providing intelligence to Israel, it will partner with Hanwha Defense and increase its stronghold in Victoria.

In 2023, we achieved a BDS win with RMIT announcing that it no longer partners with Elbit Systems.

After several protest actions at the newly opened Elbit office in Port Melbourne, we have succeeded in getting Elbit out of Port Melbourne. We are investigating their new location to ensure Elbit is out of Victoria.

The Victorian Government’s partnership with Elbit Systems, which manufactured the drone that murdered Australian aid worker Zomi Frankcom, risks implicating Victoria in the crime of genocide. We have launched a Victorian petition with the Victorian Greens to end the partnership with Elbit Systems. Print and get it signed.

In 2022 Elbit Systems of Australia became a fully-fledged Australian (ELSA) subsidiary, allowing Elbit to expand its operations in so-called Australia. Since 2021, the Victorian Government has partnered with Elbit Systems of Australia to establish a secretive research centre that collaborates with research bodies in Victoria to produce applications for the defence and emergency services sector.

ELBIT OUT OF VICTORIA CAMPAIGN LAUNCH/PROTEST THIS MONDAY 8AM - GLOBAL A15 ACTION 🧵

This Monday, we are launching a Palestine Boycott, Divestment Sanctions (BDS) movement campaign with a Unionist for Palestine led protest at the Victorian Parliament: Elbit out of Victoria, Fund communities not Bombs. It's time to uphold international justice and Stop Arming Israel.

The Australian Federal Government recently awarded Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer, a $917 million contract.

Last night me and hundreds of unionists and activists participated in a blockade in Melbourne that stopped Zim trucks from loading supplies on to ships to take to Israel.

We stopped 8 Zim trucks for 12 hours. We got messages of support and thanks from Palestine worker bodies.

At the same time docks in the US were also blocked. Docks all around the world are being blockaded to stop weapons and ammunition being taken to Israel.

If you work in STEM/tech/games in Australia, message me. Professionals Australia might be the union for you, and we are organising. If you're not sure what union you belong to, message me.
If you're in Melbourne and want to get involved, I'll add you to an alerts and organising group.

We played a pivotal role in stopping apartheid South Africa, and we can do it again. Nelson Mandela himself thanked the union movement in Australia. There is hope, and we are doing it. Get involved.

Hey my very excellent wonderful friend Tfer Newsome worked on this super important film series, that's showing at #MIFF!

Please grab some tickets ❤️

Hey all! Can I please beg a signal boost for the tv series I’ve been working on? It’s screening next week at MIFF, and we need to get some bums on seats at ACMI. Come along and support the world premiere of a vital new film series by Inkey Media, REBEL WITH A CAUSE. The series celebrates the lives of four outstanding trailblazers - a senator, a magistrate, a media icon and a poet - who bravely put everything on the line to change the course of Australia’s history. The 4 part series interweaves never-before-seen archival footage and interviews with loved ones and peers, giving audiences a rare glimpse into the private philosophy and unstoppable drive of these four important figures in our country’s history—screening at ACMI cinemas on 9th August (6 pm) and 12th August (3:45 pm).

Writers and Actors have NOT YET asked people to cancel streaming services etc.

This is because what little residuals they do get paid are helping them pay rent during the strike. Until they say so, don't cancel anything!

you can donate to the writers strike fund here to help with rent, food, bills, etc. while they strike:
