Seán ran into his friend Paddy at the pub. Before Seán could even start his usual greeting, Paddy was already holding up his phone.
"Look, I got the new foldable iPhone!"
Seán looked at the screen and said, "Yeah, I can see that. So, what's the craic?"
Oh right, holy shit, I almost forgot, I've got a vaccination appointment at 14:30 today! Covid, flu, and pneumonia. (I didn't even know they had pneumonia vaccinations now, but apparently they're recommended for us over-50s, so sure, let's do it.)
If you haven't gotten your shots, let this be your reminder! 💉
Oh, motherfucking hell, it includes "and will refrain from accessing websites or AI tools for assistance." What, I can't even look up syntax and docs? Fuuuuucccckkkk. This is awful.
I'd thought maybe I'd watch _Howl's Moving Castle_ tonight after making a brief stab at writing, but honestly? I suspect _Clueless_ is more my speed. It's definitely how I'm feeling, so I'm gonna give that a whirl.
Again, not live-tooting the whole thing, but might comment from time to time.
Happy birthday, @forestine! 🎂
Okay, going full sleepover mode here. Got my movie, got a huge-ass bowl of popcorn, and the only reason I don't have a blanket over myself is it's in the mid 20s C or the high 70s F, so that'd just make me overheat.
Not planning to do a full live-toot, but might post once or twice if something really inspires me.
_Ghostbusters_ 2016, here we go!
[Edit: Oopsy, forgot to post this when I started the movie. So my comment at nearly 30 minutes in comes up next. Sorry.]
cc @forestine
I mean, not like I'm going to do that *tonight*. But soon.
Hopefully soon.
Or... when youse least expect it!
I haven't shitposted enough lately.
I need to change that.
As a could-have-been actor, I've always been intrigued by the thing about how Michael Caine treated his Muppet co-stars as fellow actors, while Tim Curry treated himself as a fellow Muppet. I'd been meaning to watch _The Muppet Christmas Carol_ first, then _Muppet Treasure Island_, to compare and contrast, and planned to go from what I expect will be more sedate to what I expect will be more unhinged.
But nope, the universe had other plans. Tonight, it's time for commemorative Curry lunacy. 🏴☠️

Looks like it's time once again for a reminder of the lines from the Bisexual Manifesto, back in 1990:
"Do not assume that bisexuality is binary or duogamous in nature: that we have "two" sides or that we must be involved simultaneously with both genders to be fulfilled human beings. In fact, don't assume that there are only two genders."

Stolen to provide alt text that isn't insultingly perfunctory.
Why isn't there a Straight Pride? Here are a dozen reasons...
At a gay bar in the West Village (literally a stone's throw from the Stonewall, depending on your throwing arm and the stone), where the piano player has just struck up the main song from _Cabaret_. Everyone's singing along with "Come to the cabaret, old son, come to the cabaret!"
And I'm thinking of the context of that song, and the musical it's from.
I'd normally love a show-song vibe. But I can't really get into this particular one.
If you can, please help me find a job and escape the US. I'm a front-end web dev with over 20 years of experience. I know React, of course, but I consider my core skills to be:
* HTML, CSS, and JS/TypeScript
* accessibility
* listening to users and caring about them
* hence, UI and UX
Looking for Ireland, other EU, Canada, Aus or NZ. I'll need visa sponsorship; I have US citizenship only.

Okay, can someone explain to me why my timeline is full of the word "woims"? I understand it's a New York(-ish) accent version of "worms", but... what's up with it? Why's everyone posting about woims lately? I seem to have missed the memo. Thanks!

I'd been thinking about making some time to read _Project Hail Mary_ so I could go see the movie and join the convo about it. And then I read this 👇🏻.
Nice to not have to crowbar that into my schedule, but overall? I'd rather Andy Weir had just not been a shitwaffle. Seriously, I am _so sick and tired_ of white-guy SF authors turning out to be right-wing assholes.
(Also, the thing about "there's no symbolism or themes in my work"... dafuq? Why would any writer say something like that? 🤯🤡)
"My brain's still not awake, I need coffee," I thought as I looked in the cupboard for lunch options.
I went to the window to open the blind, then told myself, "No, go start the coffee first. You can open the window while the water's heating."
Started the water, then looked in the cupboard again for the coffee itself. Wait, why's there only decaf? I know I have a bottle of full-strength!
Oh. There it is, already on the counter.
Goddess. Yeah, I *really do* need coffee. 🥴☕️
Reminder: if you're posting about US politics (as so very many of you are right now, and for good reason!), please tag it with #USPol and maybe #politics. If you're posting about #AlexPretti, or about #Minneapolis, or whatever, please tag it appropriately.
This will help people *find* your posts, as well as filtering them! It's a win-win!
(Also, please CamelCase your tags if they're more than 1 word. It makes them way more readable.)
#ScribesAndMakers day 4: Share a mondegreen (misheard lyric) you like.
For the longest time, I misheard a line in the Smiths' "There is a Light That Never Goes Out". I heard it as:
> And in a darkened underpass, I thought:
> "Oh, God, my chance has come at last!"
> But then a strange fear gripped me
> And I just couldn't pass.
I thought it made an absolutely banger *triple*-entendre: Not only could he not pass by another car in his own, but he also... 1/2
