We compared three matte surfaces: an e-ink reader, a popular matte screen protector film, and the Duo’s nanotexture.

At low magnification, the difference is clear. The e-ink texture blurs everything underneath. The matte protector softens the pixels. The nanotexture lets far more detail through.

The batteries released cleanly and the outer screen is simple to remove. The same can't be said for the inner display, which will be an expensive and time-consuming repair when it breaks.
