I find it useful to read Iain Banks periodically. To be discomfited in ways and on matters I otherwise avoid.

Thougtworks: vibe coding is actively insecure and describes enterprise responses to build security into agentic work by citizen coders. Awesome! And. Their approach screams for respurces that works in all the other places people and agents develop code. For people vibe coding at home. For small businesses, community groups, students... For the poor, those coding offline. Everyone needs to build safely and securely. #fediverse

Congress hasn't declared war.
If POTUS tries to, it's unlawful.
Has the War Powers Act ever stopped presidents?

What war power authority will Miller handwave for tonight's speech?

"Who Goes Nazi?" by Dorothy Thompson is as pointed now as it was in August 1941. "It is an interesting and somewhat macabre parlor game to play at a large gathering of one’s acquaintances: to speculate who in a showdown would go Nazi. By now, I think I know. I have gone through the experience many times—in Germany, in Austria, and in France." #fascism #nazi

💨 Smoke Sensors, please

We smell smoke where I live, near the Bellingham Costco. We can't tell if it's a fireplace, a campfire, a car fire, a wildfire, or our apartments are on fire. When we lived on the south side, there were air quality sensors every block or so. But now that we're northsiders, we live in a sensor desert. The nearest sensor is far away from us.

So, will your #EV or hybrid car still work if your automaker discontinues support? Kills the services and APIs and updates that keep it running? Keep it charging? Keep it safe? Keep it legal?

#RightToRepair must extend to #cars, for a start. But all the rest of your vehicle that lives in code, networks, clouds must be in escrow. So if the company fails or fails to keep up, car owners can take over.

Otherwise the green benefits die with the car.

#Texas AG sues #GM for fraud, selling #OnStar customer data to insurers using it to screw drivers. The AG's filing includes receipts. Asks judge to award $10k per violation, plus $250K for 65+ y/o seniors. (billions) It's having them turn it off, and stop the abuse that will hurt GM the most.

#Austin's #Tesla next, please.

Kudos to AG consumer protection attorneys Bridegan, Nordstrom, Lee, and Baasch for protecting #privacy.

I get mailers from Amazon about their charitable giving in #Washington state's Puget Sound area (#Seattle and points north to the Canadian border and south to Oregon). "$2 billion+" committed via the Amazon Housing Equity Fund. So we're not taxing #Amazon enough at the county and state level?
