I see you with the White & Nerdy reference in the @atpfm show about the movie HER, @siracusa, well done. (Mine's still only 28” because that's what Samsung had in an affordable (almost)4k monitor a decade or so ago)

bin Salman has the opportunity to really freak out genX right now if he's willing to take up a blue turban as an affectation. #OrsonWellsPTSD

Anyone I know used the passport acceptance office in the MLK library? I'm wondering how much of a crowd to expect.

@atpfm

Wuff, did any of you get this email? What an amazingly half-assed effort from Apple. Rather than automatically move wish list items - or at least offer a single-click move-them-all option - Apple has instead provided a list of URLs to the pages for every item on your wish list, presumably hundreds if you had that many.

Mine thankfully was only about 20 items that I’ve long forgotten about and few of which I still care about. But if I wanted to move those over this would be infuriating.

… why?

@caseyliss I'm with you, you should have just been handed replacements. Maybe not for all products, but if they determine those airpods are defective they're gonna just hand you refurbs.

What's the send-away accomplish other than delay? Store staff already verified there's an issue. We know airpods aren't serviceable in the traditional sense so once they verify it (again) they're gonna... give you a refurb.

Why wait?

@atpfm It's an appeal so it's always gonna be thinner than the basic case; appeals shouldn't involve any new information. But this seems to all boil down to a tiny disparity on “did Mosimo show enough stuff they're actually DOING in the US as required by the statute” including exactly what sort of prototype/product was introduced in evidence.

I'm no attorney, much less an IP one, but if I was an Apple exec listening to this w/ no additional information I'd be asking why we haven't settled.

@atpfm The recording of yesterday's oral arguments between Apple and the ITC (meaning, Masimo) are up and at 40m aren't an onerous listen. https://oralarguments.cafc.uscourts.gov/default.aspx?fl=24-1285_07072025.mp3

I fed the recording into macwhisper and spent a quick second to identify the attorneys. The generated transcript is at https://whiteside.weblog.lol/2025/07/quick-macwhisper-parakeet-generated-transcript-with-nominal-speaker-identification

CourtListener's page is at https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/68115088/apple-inc-v-itc/ and it also links to the audio.

Personally I found this perplexing since Apple's position here sure sounded weak to me.

I honestly don’t know how an organization is (a) a place where it would be relevant to book Stallman (b) aware of Stallman’s existence but also (c) NOT aware of the multitude of reasons they shouldn’t have anything to do with Stallman.

Reconsidering is good but needing to is pretty damming all by itself. To be ignorant in 2025 strongly implies a willful ignorance or massive lack of diversity.

What a giant load of crap. After a lot of nonsense about transparency and openness the Trump admin has terminated... a volunteer organization focused on open government. Nothing shows commitment to a cause like disbanding zero-cost groups working on that cause!

Fuck this bullshit. https://nsinteger.com/@zacwest/113991537960396621

@caseyliss About your LEDs and MQTT - has anyone said the word “Tasmota” to you yet?

This is pretty interesting, but I sure wish it included some method to also indicate vote quantity by vote, rather than land mass. The big ol chunk of red in the second photo represents fewer votes for Trump than that wee tiny square of blue in the other image. These screen captures represent the same zoom level. For easier comparison I made an image with them next to each other. https://masto.ai/@Nonilex/113850350456665507

@ivory there’s an audio track attached here but it doesn’t show for me in ivory but I can see it on the original site. Is it some sort of funny server extension or should it be showing in ivory?

“If every kid fucker in Congress resigned there’d be way more democrats left than republicans” is a super weird take from a sitting Republican.

I’m more than willing to believe it’s true, but it’s a hell of a thing to admit about your own squad.

Edit 3PM EST: While this sounds stupid enough for MTG to have said, it apparently originated (uncredited; for shame, TBF) with a tweet from something called The Halfway Post, satire over on Xitter.

@caseyliss The search url scheme works on MacOS if the app is closed but not if it's already open. Is that a thing that's on your radar? I understand if it's not - I certainly use the app on my phone 5x as much as at my computer - but I'm just curious.

It’s really just mind boggling how openly racist these people are. This is a person who was traveling with Trump before the debate, who he publicly praises. No disavowal. No obfuscation.

Harris Teeter would like to reassure you that it is not pre-1987 when the Montreal Protocol was enacted. I guess they figured they were stocking deodorant make the same stupid claims so why not get in on the action?

Is it racism? It’s racism, isn’t it?
