The new LC 475 is starting up just fine. Nice!

#Marchintosh

I already have a 460 with maxed-out RAM and VRAM, plus a IIe card. If I swap it into the 475, it’ll be a pretty nice machine. And then there’s the overclocking, too.

Just won an auction for an LC 475. I really shouldn’t buy more vintage Macs, but I don’t have any 040, so… yeah.

@Iconfactory

@Iconfactory After the latest Tapestry update, I’m seeing issues with Mastodon images not loading correctly. Avatars, link previews, and images sometimes look like this. If I swipe left to view the post, the images appear fine, so the issue is only in the feed. This is a self-hosted Mastodon instance. Did something change with the Mastodon connector, or is it just a coincidence that my instance started acting up now? Everything looks normal when using the web client and Ivory, though.

Gem. #NowPlaying #punk

@ivory I can see that Ivory is reloading header pictures, avatars and custom emojis very frequently (daily?). What can the issue be? Something with Ivory, or server side caching?

10/10

Real Mac users don’t need help!

Replaced the old external BlueSCSI v1 with an internal v2 the other day.

Here the SE/30 with its 24 bit “dirty” ROM running those old Sierra AGI games in color perfectly fine! One of few machines that can. #MARCHintosh

This Classic II is officially cursed.

• Replaced all caps on the logic board
• Adjusted the voltage rails on the analog board
• Changed to another pair of RAM modules — computer now actually started to boot normally, but with intermittent issues. I SHOULD’VE STOPPED HERE!
• Soaked the logic board in vinegar and rinsed with water — BAD IDEA! Now it didn’t start at all...
• Soaked the logic board in vinegar again, rinsed with IPA.
• Replaced a missing/damaged micro cap on the back of the logic board
• Removed and cleaned the Egret chip — computer started again! PHEEEW
• Replaced several caps on the analog board
• Re-adjusted the voltage rails
• Replaced the onboard RAM chips — twice!
• Replaced all capacitors (except 2 × 1 uF) on the logic board — again! Better soldering job this time

Issue is virtually the same. Just another pattern on the screen (after the swapped RAM chips). Pattern is less garbled, though.

Adieu

Also project: Macintosh IIci. Replacing nasty filter caps.

Project: Macintosh Classic II. Apparently a re-cap wasn’t enough. Or I did a bad job. At least the CRT turns on now. #RetroComputing
