Today on mastodon: I get told that some rando knows better why I designed things the way I did than I do.

This shit cost 2 trillion dollars btw.

It’s reassuring to know that Emacs will always be older than me.

@GossiTheDog

When windfall profits for the fossil fuel industry means orchestrating a financial crash & world war, like Rockefeller did in 1929, this is what it looks like... funding a cartel & a circular financing fraud.

ArchiveOfOurOwn (AKA AO3, run by the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW)) has been down for a few days due to a security incident. In the wake of that security incident, a site called AO3.life has cropped up. At some point, they scraped what appears to be most (if not all ... I've got no way to check that myself) of the fics on AO3 including ones that were only available to logged-in users.

In addition to providing these fics (some of which were specifically not intended for broader consumption) on their site, they're trying to get readers to pay for audio editions of the stories.

They have some dodgy and technically impossible steps if you are an AO3 author and want to take your fics down.

OTW is aware and is taking legal action but they warn that the legal system is slow. They advise that you do not attempt to use AO3.life's requested method since it may expose you to additional dangers regarding your private information.

Glad to see this reporting from the BBC: when the AI bubble bursts, companies that have gone bust will sell your data. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20261029-the-ai-bubble-could-expose-your-deepest-secrets

In July, Goldman Sachs was praising bankers and traders for using AI to build their own software.

Now it’s restricting Claude Code and other AI coding tools to engineers, after reviewing productivity and risk concerns.

Turns out making everyone a vibe coder creates some new problems.

#LispGameJam Day 2:

Cards can be placed and returned to hand

Day 3 - First pass on the art, tiles and characters done. I still need to work on interior art...

#lispgamejam

hey, a level is coming together! #lispgamejam

This technique worked pretty well!

@cwebber oh wow. This is exactly what happens with fascists in online spaces.

Most don't want their own network, they only use it to plan terrorism. They want to come to the other spaces and poison them.

Lisp game jam day 2: build system and resource loading done. Now time to work on an actual game...

I could probably make some tortilla chips in the toaster oven though, and this would help me keep the amount of chips I consume contained

feeling stressed and depressed over this paperwork and I want nachos to help me feel better

I really wanna go buy some tortilla chips

but I know this is the path to regrets
