“Follow me to my quarters, Mr. Spock. These boots are hard to take off alone.” is… horny even by Trek standards?

It's possible this isn't a Tahoe bug and something else is going on, but I've noticed it for a few weeks now. It wasn't clear to me at first what was happening until I found a clear way of reproducing it:

```applescript
tell application "Finder"
reveal POSIX file "/"
activate
end tell
```

#FeedbackAssistant #macOSTahoe

Filed FB20661489 "Reveal folder" does open Finder window with correct path, but doesn't make it frontmost

This is quite confusing. You click "Reveal in Finder" somewhere, a window opens, you start typing, but… you can't.

Someone wrote a TUI: https://github.com/andreybleme/lazycontainer

Now that #macOSTahoe has been out for a while (I'm mostly fine with it), have people played with https://github.com/apple/container? It has 21k stars and has apparently seen steady development, yet nobody seems to be talking about it.

Is it… viable as a replacement for #Docker or #Orbstack? Has someone made a simple Mac GUI app to manage containers with it? (Or maybe I can use Orbstack for that?)

How about performance?

NO!

A fucking fruit fly has more feelings than an LLM

How is this even a question

🎵

They paved Stack Overflow
And put up an LLM
With an image gen, a chat bot
And a writing pen

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved Stack Overflow
And put up an LLM

No!

An LLM is not an intelligent being. It cannot self-reflect. Stop anthropomorphizing it.

So I went on a cruise 🚢

When did Amazon become this bad? My query is “power bank both usb and usb-c”. It shows results that aren’t cables, don’t have both ports, aren’t new, … so far, not a single match.

Look, I have many problems with Wikipedia, most of all its deletionism, but its editorial slant isn’t “woke”. It’s centrist tech bro. Star Trek Season 27 episode 43? Needs its own article. FLOSS project with five users? Needs its own article. Everything else? Relevance criteria! Literal expert scientist contributed something? We don’t accept primary sources!

But until there’s something better, yeah, we should stand in its defense.

I do get the quandary Apple is in, but I’m not sure about the tradeoff here. They’ve made privacy slightly better for edge cases, but overall UX worse for everyone.

And, and this does seem solvable on Apple’s part, it puts the burden on third parties to explain themselves.

I guess at least that’s not very obnoxious, but it still seems misguided.

(No, “Ice” doesn’t “access the screen”; it uses screen recording permissions because that’s the only way it can make its necessary layout measurements.)

Read somewhere: Al Gore will be 80 in 2028, making him eligible to run for POTUS

Would love a comparison of Bjango’s Pinwheel and Steve Troughton-Smith’s Pastel. They look similar?

I also find “man, I wish my bartender were an artificial being I can’t really talk to” pretty funny.

I imagine it’s because abusive practices in tech have drained some excitement out of me, but as far as the question of “was Optimus run by an LLM, or remotely by a human?” goes, my answer would be c) I don’t give a shit, I hate it either way.
