i don't really care about the claudius usage, but the strategy for the "port" employed just seemed really dumb

i find the mars volta inspiring for being a prog rock band that doesn’t actually know how to play their instruments. usually they’re like virtuosos or something

@grawity @remmy heads up, i updated gale again so it builds on the latest shit, but also a meson branch because man those automake files are fucked https://github.com/NattyNarwhal/gale/tree/meson

https://daringfireball.net/2026/01/macpaw_pulls_plug_on_setapp_mobile_in_eu adding onto @gruber 's article with the android/PC angle:

it's telling that Android never forbade alternative stores or pulled games, and there was still zero interest in i.e. SlideMe or the Samsung store. Amazon's app store was only popular because they gave out free apps and was the only game in town on Fire tablets (the giving away free apps is telling for Epic's own game store on PC too, where outside of free subsidized games and Fortnite, no one uses it instead of Steam)

third-party app stores are very much a forced meme and the main marketplaces on a platform are natural monopolies; it's probably better to regulate those instead, or support other platforms

back in my day we called them proxies and not VPNs, and we were behind seven of them

wikipedia needs a recent births section where they show people newborns who will be notable

dear freebsd lazyweb: what do i need to do about about a freebsd port that doesn't have package builds? py-libtorrent-rasterbar doesn't have builds for 14/amd64, and that means i can't update deluge (in fact, it removed it because a transitive ABI dependency got bumped). it doesn't seem to be marked as broken, so i'm not sure why it's not there

i could make package from the ports tree, but that is a mild pain in the ass i would prefer not to do on my slow NAS
