remember, it's still halloween until you go to sleep

nutritional yeast on popcorn sounds like some middle-aged hippie bullshit until you _try_ it.

I no longer have even a single chat app where it is possible for me to understand "when you beep at me, how do I tell why you beeped at me?" or "what do I do to make the 'unread notifications' tag go away?"

look, folks, i think we're gonna have to give up on things that display an indicator of having unread messages. we clearly no longer have the technological capacity to do this correctly, and even if we still did we've crossed the threshold where anyone has the time to mark the things read and still do anything else with the software that contains the unread things.

(and, like, forget about _counting_ the number of unread things.)

i'm looking for a poem or lyric with a line something like "the names of the months read like threats". ring a bell for anybody?

i tried a couple of search engines and got nowhere. on my second try with google i appended the string "poem" and the embedded chatbot wrote me a shitty poem about the specific threats embodied by each month.

i didn't do a single looptober this year but i did start removing a layer of dust and grime from the synthesizers on the afternoon of the 29th, so i guess that's something

@brennen that’s what we need - a good playlist of none-hit wonders.

did grant lee buffalo even _have_ a hit to get unfairly slotted into the one-hit-wonder category? anyway, holy shit, what an underrated band.

the other day a friend of mine was like "i'm kind of over this trend of people really liking cats and having stuff with pictures of cats on it" and i didn't really say anything but what i was _thinking_ was "maybe i should get a tattoo of a cat".

To help keep the newsletter going, I've launched a Premium Newsletter that should go out at least once a week.

And, since the launch is happening at the end of October, I figured I might as well do it as a Halloween sale.

So, you can buy a year's membership to the Premium Newsletter for €25 EUR (50% off) with this link:

But wait, there's more...

things are going great around here.

it's several hours into the workday and i just realized i am not yet wearing pants.

they should invent a hearing that can be replaced.

definitely on the list of bands i shouldn't listen to at all for the sake of my diminishing hearing, because it really only sounds right at a truly crushing volume, but i do love them. perhaps i will wear earmuffs to the show, which i assume will probably be at sound pressure levels you can feel in your entire cardiovascular system.

🚨 hum are touring in 2027 🚨

i would guaranteed watch 5-7 8 episode seasons of that shit and i bet i'm not alone.

proposal: everybody's getting hammered at the bar, good vibes, dancing. sudden buzzkill: evil mining company guy & henchpersons show up, the one kid squints and challenges 'em to a scrap, they go out front, giant tentacles emerge from off-screen and pulp the henchpersons, kid gives the squid the low bones and the band comes outside and everybody dances with the squid to a banger song from a band you feel like maybe you used to hear on much music. roll credits.

good cast, cool setting, ending just kind of... fizzles right where you think you'd expect some rampaging monster vengeance.

if they get a second season, they could do worse than turning it into kind of a small town hangout thing a la letterkenny but with moderate generational trauma, a little dusting of climate angst, and some murdery giant squid pals.

i was home alone for a couple of nights, i was looking for something kind of mindless.

this one was overstuffed, in a way - enough plot gimmicks for a dozen of the kind of shows you'd put on a streaming platform around halloween. a bunch of them just kind of trail off. i'd say it pulls punches but it's more like the script just kind of decides to go somewhere else.

it could have been a better show, but i liked it well enough to spend the time.

that thing where you glance out a window and notice the dregs of the sunset and think oh yeah i bet that one was a real banger about 15 minutes ago
