I'm going to get an Internet connected camera pointed at the oven so when I get the fear that I've gone out and left the gas on, I can just check instead of having to reason my way out.

@beasts, I saw this and thought of you

Private equity makes money by defecting in a civilisation-wide game of prisoner's dilemma in which we've all been cooperating for generations.

I posted that photo of the laptop like 30 minutes before I became aware of all the 1Password bullshit blowing up it's not a comment on anything.

My old laptop is too old to run Windows 11, but it's not too old to run Windows 11 in a Virtual Box under Linux Mint. Happy days.

Nothing stops other companies from doing this apart from the mistaken belief that treating your customers like shit saves you money in the long run. It doesn't.

Anyway now I want to buy everything from https://www.cornishware.co.uk/

At 13:12 today, I emailed a https://www.cornishware.co.uk/ about replacing the lid of a butter dish that had been broken by accident.

A named human being replied to me 5 minutes later, and the whole transaction was complete by 14:56.

I didn't have to wade through web forms. I didn't have to talk to a chat bot. I didn't have to scour the site for where they had hidden the contact email at the bottom of 5 layers of FAQs.

This is the world we could have had.

I know no one here is on Facebook, but you are missing out.
