I have a blog post "What is a Processing and p5.js library?" up today on the Processing Foundation's blog.

On my shit with event-based programming DSLs once again.

Doing this thing where I just sit at my computer and yearn for something until I think I have an idea.

Advice for anyone who wants to make art:

Make art.

I've been focused on paper quilling for a few days & new ideas for designs keep popping into my head. I close my eyes & see swirling paper.

This is what happens when I consistently do creative work. I go from having no ideas to having too many.

When I sit down & start working on something at random without knowing what I want to make or what it could look like, it gets my brain in gear, & THEN the ideas come. To make art, you gotta make art.

Tested the 70-200mm lens on my old Canon 7D today. I think the focus needs some calibration, but these are the better test shots I got on the locals.

I think I managed to capture the juveniles, and one of the parents!

A better future has to be possible. You can see the news yourself on E621's news section. E6AI might not be shut down *today* but it may be gone very soon.

It is a good day for artists in the furry fandom.

the discourse about slop is yet another of those things where we are expected to show completely unreciprocated empathy towards people contributing to our oppression

Concatenative Combinators aren’t a #concatenativelanguage in the strict sense. Although it’s true that any two valid programs catenated together form a valid program, it is not true that any bisection of a valid program results in two valid programs.

This is because concatenative combinators includes quotations, which makes it a Dyck Language. The correct rules are:

1. Inserting any valid program into another valid program results in a valid program. This includes inserting at the end or the beginning, which are also catenation.

2. Removing any valid program from a valid program leaves a valid program. That includes removing from the end or the beginning.

3. Valid programs contain balanced quotes.

It occurs to me that the State of #Haskell Survey is currently running; would it be infelicitous of me to suggest that a possible answer to the last question:

"If you could change one thing about Haskell, what would it be?"

I have realized Leafo is not an ally to me. So, I won't go down with his ship. And, I am so done holding water for this guy.

Realizing Leafo's (and by proxy, Itch.io's) embrace of slop is what finally motived me to make my own games page. I can't sell my games, the slop won't get removed, their TLD has an explicit anti-porn clause, Leafo is vibecoding the whole platform, and there is still no word about Itch.io's quest for an alternate payment process.

I already got caught pants down once last year with Itch hosting all my work. It's not happening again.

If you are wondering why Itch.io (and really Leafo) seems to be dragging their feet so much on the reality of AI slop for an art platform. Leafo, the creator of Itch, is a Claude user:

https://github.com/leafo/lapis/blob/master/CLAUDE.md

Itch.io's whole stack is slop. Even down to the language it is written in, MoonScript. The new core for its parse is pgen, a vibecode parser generator:

https://github.com/leafo/pgen/blob/master/CLAUDE.md

The core problem is error defusion requires data dependencies by its very nature. Don't really want to have intersecting and sequential data flows in your parallel computing, ya know. Also, I'm on LÖVE 11.5 so No Compute shaders which makes this even more of a hackjob idea.

(The video is done using `ImageData:mapPixel (f)`)

Also, originally I wanted to do a live error defusion shader, but then I remembered how restricted GLSL is and also my parallel programming course upon seeing this matrix.

Figuring out this error diffusion stuff.
