Earlier and earlier, year by year, the newscasters and politicians wear their poppies.

1st question to #Farage from GB News
"Why can't you fill the hall?"
"Staff incompetence" he replies

“#Serbia has won, just as we promised,” declared Ilija Srdanovic, representing the student list, to activists waving colorful balloons. “We will never again have a tyrant in this country .” Suzana Mila Martic, a student, told Agence France-Presse (AFP) that she felt “incredibly good . ” “I feel like I’m finally living in a free country ,” she said, weeping, as a cacophony of car horns and a crowd with raised arms filled the streets of the capital’s center.

Long-serving, pro Moscow, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić conceded defeat for his ruling party. The election saw high turnout, with preliminary results showing a strong lead for a student-led opposition movement.

Milan, Italy – Thousands of protesters took to the streets across Italy over the weekend to demonstrate against Giorgia Meloni’s right-wing government and the rising cost of living, a week after clashes with police and looting during demonstrations in Milan

Oxford Street will be pedestrianised next week and a few weeks after that it will be among the first areas in the country to have permanent, live, facial recognition infrastructure scanning the faces of people passing through and comparing them with a watchlist of wanted suspects.

I suspect AI and #Palantir will be involved in this given Khan's volta-face?

Hooray, God bless the 21st Century xxx

It looks quite likely that the people of #Albania are going to overthrow their national government

You won't see this mentioned on the news as respective governments around the world are terrified it could happen in their country

More than 400 people are expected to gather outside the United States embassy in London on October 31 in the latest act of mass defiance against the British government’s ban on the #PalestineAction group.

During the initial legal challenge back in 2025, it emerged that Trump and Starmer had spoken by phone twice about Palestine Action in the March of that year. Starmer had requested updates from Police Scotland on the arrests about the damage done to his precious golf course. He briefed Trump regularly and that's why we shall be outside the embassy.

On Halloween Day mass defiance and the mass arrests expected to follow will lay bare the fundamental rights to free expression. I may go for a 'hattrick'

WE SHALL WIN

you can be part of this too.

Today, armed Israeli settlers arrived in two vehicles near the Ajja roundabout, south of Jenin, and demolished a memorial honouring Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, Palestinian news agency Wafa reports.

The local municipality had erected the monument to commemorate the Palestinian journalist.

An Israeli soldier shot Abu Akleh in the head in 2022 as she reported on an Israeli military raid in Jenin.

Remember her name and the crimes of Israel.

Abdul El-Sayed, whose full name is Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed is an epidemiologist and the Democratic candidate running for the U.S. Senate in Michigan. During the campaign, former #Trump drew attention by publicly referring to him as "Muhammad" instead of his actual name.

Today, he called him a "vicious violent jihadist" and "very probably a member of the Muslim Brotherhood"

"Quiet. Isn't she a fresh person? You are a horrible little reporter, aren't you"

Young man in the #BBcquestiontime audience asks "in what sense is this spending [on defence] going towards lining Donald Trump's pocket and aiding and abetting his illegal war on Iran"

He is clapped

Bruce ...."let me take another question"

Slightly older man "What with trump becoming increasingly hostile, wouldn't we better at getting another partner for our special relationship"

Lady with scarf "wouldn't we better at looking towards Europe. Joining their defence programme?"

Bruce looks unhappy and says "I see"

Things you may not know ....

Israeli is very much involved in North Sea gas and oil development.

Delek Group, an Israeli energy conglomerate, is the majority shareholder of Ithaca Energy, a major player in North Sea energy assets. That company holds stakes in several key UK offshore projects. Therefore Delek's ownership of Ithaca gives Israeli energy interests a significant stake across UK North Sea gas and oil operations.

Bank Job is all 100 pages, which seems in keeping with the spirit of Truss's premiership... we wish her well in her new career, sitting as a constipated egotist in front of people who, what with their shades, have been portrayed as cooler than her.

Steve Witkoff has just called #Putin a "humanitarian"

The cover of this week's New Statesman edition is an extraordinary intervention.

Just two weeks ahead of the Supreme Court hearing on the proscription of #PalestineAction, many of the world’s leading cultural icons have joined forces to condemn the “ill-conceived and draconian anti-terror legislation” which they describe as “an affront to basic principles of free speech and expression so long taken for granted in this country” and as “repressive absurdity”.

Signatories to the letter include Paul Mescal, Gary Lineker, Arundhati Roy, Naomi Klein, Paul Mescal, JM Coetzee, Tilda Swinton, Susan Sarandon, Tariq Ali, Irvine Welsh, Slavoj Žižek, Jonathan Glazer, Zadie Smith, Julian Barnes, Juliet Stevenson, Kate Nash, Kneecap, Maxine Peake, Michael Frayn, Michael Rosen, Monica Ali, Caryl Churchill, Colm Tóibín, Emily Wilson, William Boyd, William Dalrymple, and Shami Chakrabarti.

Claire Hanna from the SDLP talks about Sally Rooney being unable to distribute her books at #PMQs

"The prime minister has acknowledged that the previous government's response to #Gaza was inadequate and the Foreign Secretary said that those campaigning for change were right but the prescription remains in place with extraordinary consequences for freedom of expression. Will the Prime Minister commit to reviewing the prescription of #PalestineAction and righting this unnecessary wrong?"

Burnham replies that 'we won't stand by when the idea of the two state solution is threatened. And ... when it comes to Palestine Action the matter is a live legal case* and I won't comment further than that."

*Huda Ammori's representatives will try and overturn the ban in the Supreme Court on Nov 4th

#Burnham promises at #PMQs about #Jackdaw "That the resources that come in will allow us to invest in renewables

[the UK Government estimates the project will contribute around £2.9 billion to the UK economy over its expected 11-year operational lifespan]

It seems unlikely that all that money will go towards renewables, given the requests from defence ect

He then pulls a rabbit out the hat and says "i have asked the Chancellor and the Energy Minister if we can drop Standing Charges from energy bills at the earliest opportunity"
