It's #noteworthy that the Democrats lost big when they were running on a #zionist, pro- #GazaGenocide #platform, and then won big when they were (at least nominally) running on an #antizionist, anti- #genocide platform. That doesn't mean they'll automatically learn their #lesson, or that they'll do anything real to oppose #Israel and support #Palestine.

We need to catch them when they continue to #fake it, and make it #cost. We need to hold and act on the genuine line.

I'm seeing some of the big #midterms #ElectionResults now. I've been busy with #exams (yes, the other kind of midterms) all day, so I haven't had a chance to really look at them yet. But the general sense seems to be, "the #Democrats won big".

Being #excited is fine. Taking it as a license to go back to #brunch isn't. We'll all be keeping track of who rests on their laurels, and who keeps doing #MutualAid and #DirectAction.

Often, doing the morally right thing means not getting what you expected to get. Moral integrity means going against your own material interests and social expectations when necessary. Capitalism treats people who challenge it worse than it treats people who uphold it.

He's not unique in this regard, either. It's time to stop getting fooled every time a Democrat says there's a genocide in #Gaza. They're not going to stop it. Even if they wanted to, the #party machinery that gets elected fundamentally prevents it.

The only #electoral means of stopping #imperial genocides is a dedicated #AntiImperialist party. But whether we put in the decades of hard #work to #build one or not, we need to focus on #DirectAction to #sabotage the genocidal #systems.

#AbdulElSayed may not be as bad as his explicitly #Zionist opponent, but it's a very low bar and nothing to be excited about.
