@atpfm adding to your list of Backblaze alternatives. I’m testing iDrive right now. It’s fast. Some people claim it’s designed as file storage. However it keeps up to 30 versions of files. As long as it’s only used as backup, not a Dropbox replacement it’s seems good.

Friends, my current server agilealliance.social is shutting down. I’m sad. Does anyone have a recommended server? I don’t know when it is shutting down? I don’t know what to look for in a new server? (Polls with more options; slightly longer posts?) #Agile #Scrum

I just got a notice that @agilealliance is shutting down this instance. I’m on vacation and can’t practically do this for ~3 weeks. Who I talk to ask for some runway?

GenAI prototypes: built in minutes, not weeks. Game changer?

But at #ProductCamp Ottawa 2026, an informal poll showed few people test hypotheses with real users before shipping AI code.

Even cheap building wastes time on wrong features. Use GenAI for faster Fake Door and Wizard of Oz tests. Vet ideas upstream to avoid feature bloat.

What’s your next experiment?

At #ProductCamp, someone said: ‘My friend at a startup uses GenAI for all their code: great quality.’ Then dismissed studies from last fall as ‘outdated.’

I froze. Better responses:
• A startup’s risk profile isn’t a mature company’s
• Quality may hold for the first 100-200k lines, not long-term
• The flaws are in how models are trained and rewarded: fundamental

Coming 26-28 July 2026, the PMI Agile 2026 conference brings the Agile community together each year to learn, connect, and lead. Attendees gain practical insights, build meaningful connections, and leave ready to apply what they’ve learned.

Together, we’ll start shaping what agility actually looks like at the enterprise level, in an AI-shaped world, and for the next generation of the community.

Does your team struggle with finishing work “on time”? Or does that work queue up behind a particular person or function? That’s too much Work in Progress, and can slow a team’s pace to a crawl. The value stream map is a powerful tool for visualizing how work moves through the team and where the work gets stuck.

Join us online on April 8 for an Agile Online session with Johanna Rothman, "How to Use Value Stream Maps to Reinforce Agility & Effectiveness."

Driven mad by Drip. We use an mailing platform Drip for both transactional/course emails and newsletters.

I'm trying to automate as much of my repetitive work as I can.

Drip's API is limited. I had automated much of the work through Playwright and it keeps on failing.

I give up. Next week I will try replacing Drip with Mailjet. Everything accessible through an API. All version controlled. No more copy and paste.

You might find the NVIDIA Parakeet model interesting to look at some point. Performance wise it is much faster than the Whisper models. It might free up some Mac Minis for you. Unsure if it runs on iPhone.

Your team uses Claude Code. They think they understand it. How well?

At RSG Banff 2025, I ran a Human-Powered AI Simulation. Five groups. Index cards. A die. Results assembled into a "GenAI response." No thinking. No memory. Just the next most-likely phrase.

It makes three things viscerally clear:
• GenAI doesn’t understand your prompt, it’s pattern-matching
• No memory between requests
• More parameters = better mimicry, not intelligence

Autopilot made flying safer. It also made pilots worse at flying. The aviation industry’s fix? More training, more simulator time, more deliberate practice. Not less.

Now look at software teams adopting GenAI. We’re automating the thinking but not investing in skills to evaluate the output. Junior developers are especially at risk.

I'm not an AI Techno-optimist or pessimist. I use these tools daily. I see real value and real harm. Hype++ >> reality.

I want to be the person you trust to share both sides - mapping the territory as it is, not as vendors promise.

Which resonates? Suggest something better?

(Not abandoning Agility - it's necessary for surviving this mess.)

Brian Graham calls it the Knowledge Cliff: automating away understanding you need.

GPS replaced taxi drivers’ mental maps. NASA lost rocket expertise to retirement. In software, every LLM decision erodes skill while giving false confidence.

Before automating, ask: Can I evaluate this? Is this core to my craft?

Automate small tasks. Protect ones that build judgment.

Imagine giving a Feature Factory a superpower: not understanding customers better, but shipping features faster. That’s what GenAI does for teams stuck in the output trap.

The original symptoms (rigid roadmaps, no discovery, velocity obsession) weren’t caused by building slowly. They were caused by not stopping to think. AI removes the last speed bump that might force a conversation about value.

AI agents promised faster delivery. They also delivered 39% more Cognitive Complexity and 30% more static analysis warnings.

Research found a reinforcing cycle: AI generates more code → complexity rises → debt accumulates → velocity drops → teams generate even more AI code to compensate. Initial speed gains? Gone within months.

This isn’t a tooling problem; it’s a systems problem. More code was never the goal.

GenAI is making it easier to switch tool providers. I’m frustrated with our email marketing platform: most features are GUI-only, no API access.

I’ve written code to extract our entire newsletter archive + stats. When the time comes, exporting will be painless.

The irony: our provider keeps adding AI features I don’t need instead of making their product easier to use.

We don’t need more shiny AI features. Ease of use matters more.
